Curious about how well tech companies here support running Linux on work laptops. By "native" here I mean wiping the drive and booting straight into a Linux distro of your choice, no OS X/Windows present.
What companies don't support Linux laptops at all?
Stupid companies stuck with stupid macbook.
Symantec for one. 😢
Adobe is all in for MS solutions, but most devs have Macs. Our infrastructure is MS, like Outlook/Office 365, SharePoint and all that. It's all available via web interface, so going all Linux is entirely possible. You just need to talk to the right IT folks, though we do a lot of self help, helping each other out.
Who asks the IT department?
I do that, 0 support from IT as you'd guess lol
When you say "Linux on Windows laptop", what do you mean? I assume you mean "non-Apple hardware"? Why is generic hardware Windows by default? Why are you so OS-ist? :)
By "Linux on a Windows laptop" I mean "a laptop that was preloaded with Windows but whose drive has since been wiped (by you) for an installation of Linux." There are very few laptops preloaded with Linux, and if this was the case for you, you probably wouldn't be particularly interested in this poll.
