I have been trawling endless threads about remote positions. The following companies were mentioned by someone as being either a "good" place to work remotely or a "high TC" place to work remotely. If you have any other suggestions, please suggest them. * Salesforce * Stripe * Microsoft * Twilio * Digital Ocean * Twitter * Github * Stripe * Reddit * Gitlab * Tanium * Automattic * Trustwave * Cisco * InVision * auth0 * Okta * Stich fix * Akamai * Plaid * Etsy * Aha! * Collibra * Elastic * Signal I'm about to start the process of evaluating some of them based on the following criteria. This is not the list of everything I care about. It's the list of things that need to be true for it to be worthwhile considering a switch from my current job. * TC > $150K * Travel Days 14 days (not counting holidays) * Required onsite ramp up time < 3 months (ideally 0) * Hiring for remote positions must not be rare (ie, you have to join and then negotiate for remote. Or only 1 in 100 candidates have the leverage to negotiate for starting remote) I will post an update once I have more info. I'll be researching myself, but that won't replace first-hand knowledge. If you know about the remote working situation in any of these companies I'd appreciate hearing from you. And if you would be willing to refer me please let me know. Some current info about me: Company: Mastercard TC: $200 YOE: 6 Role: Software Engineer (half team management, half individual contribution) Location: DC #remote #remotecompanies #tc #referral
Excellent list. I'll check them out on the high end of total comp.
Good list, has all that I know of.
Plaid told me they were not remote friendly, just a day a week
Walmart, Amazon, and Indeed also offers remote opportunities and high pay. JLL is a hit or miss - they off remote work and benefits, but pay might be low.
DataStax is also close to fully remote, especially on the engineering side. Work and colleagues are also pretty great. Part of your TC will be paper money and you might not go over $150K on base salary alone, but the company has a new, very focused CEO who's really turning things around (no disrespect to the old one).
isn't Microsoft Seattle on-site and not remote? same question for twitter
Do they adjust the base salary depending on your remote location? (Ex, depending on the state you live on?)
Certainly some do and you typically don't want to work for them unless you are in the highest cost of living cities.
Deliverr
Why are you trying to leave MasterCard?
Two main reasons. First, I want to move for family reasons and I doubt I'll get an exception to move. Second, everything surrounding my job is becoming more bureaucratic by the day. I might have been willing to stick it out here otherwise.
FYI - GitLab is a 100% remote workforce. There is no physical “HQ”. :)
But does it meet the $ criteria tho? I’ve heard that it doesn’t
Gitlab is very transparent with their comp, it's all public, it's adjusts based on local cost of living: https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/people-group/global-compensation/calculator/ OTOH Invision also adjusts based on local CoL and yet they're on the list.
