Living cost and TC in San Diego

Does anyone know how expensive is it to live in San Diego and the cities around? How much is rent(2 bedroom), utilities, groceries? What should be an average TC(big companies and startups) in order to live a standard life there? I am thinking about moving from East Coast. Thanks Yoe: 3 TC: 140K

The pay is low and living expenses is high. A lot of people willing to relocate there without increase in pay. The city is beautiful ☀️🏖️🏄

Do you know by any chance what should be the base salary for SWE with 3-4 yoe? Average or median

Yeah, I’d take $120k to live there. Way more beautiful than SF or Seattle with less needles and homeless piss.

Depends on company but likely around 100k base - 115k bade

With 3YoE you'd be looking at 100-120K. Not much, property is expensive, rent is high. I'd say, look elsewhere.

Utilities are highest in the country but given the weather you don’t use nearly as much. In fact most places have no AC/heat just windows TC is low as there no competition for talent. 100-120 base for your exp w a TC approaching 130-140 is top of the barrel for a big employer. Smaller companies pay less. There’s not quite the vibrant VC scene here

3 YOE, TC 220k, SD here. A 2bed/2bath apartment in your average area (anywhere but the most premium places, e.g., not downtown or oceanfront) will be about 2200/month. Water is pricey. Some food is more expensive — meat and cheese cost more out here. With the right experience, you can interview at the right places and you can raise your TC a bit.

220k for 3yoe? How? Split?

Intuit b7x1s Feb 15, 2019

145k base / 75k stock / 0 bonus. (Its a public company, so fully liquid stock). Qualcomm, the answer is that Bay Area companies are slowly opening shop in San Diego. Intuit and the other legacy players (like Qualcomm) won’t be able to keep up, or will have to pay more.

Its a huge spread out city, so budget a significant amount of your time to driving.

North of San Diego county, close to Carlsbad and Vista

Vista is pretty cheap
