I’m currently working at a job I don’t like and in a city I don’t like either. So I’ve been interviewing outside the city. So the dilemma is my lease is ending next Friday and I have final interviews with 2 different companies coming up. One in state, one out of state. So I’m in between, do I sign a new lease in my current city because I haven’t exactly received offers for those 2 other jobs and then break the lease if I do happen to get either one? Or do I put my stuff in storage for a bit and Airbnb/hotel till I figure out where I’ll be? Keep in mind, it is just me and my dog. I don’t think I have too much stuff either. Just a few boxes, tables/drawers, couch, bed, and tv. Im not able to extend my lease because my apartment complex already has someone moving in. I also thought about month to month but it’s just way too expensive at my current apartment.
Put ur stuff in a storage and live in an Airbnb for couple weeks.
Other answers covered it. Extend by a month if possible, otherwise store it until you know. I'm guessing you're relatively young and probably have a bunch of crappy furniture - consider dumping what you can now and declutter.
Deloitte? What rank are you? I'm guessing you may have a ton of points that can be burned on hotel stays. Barring that, do Airbnb or find a month to month rental. Those aren't particularly difficult to find, though by not telling us the city I guess that's the extent we can help.
Okay so how much does is it cost to break a lease ? If it's not more than 2 months then just extend the lease Else pack it up and be a free man away from the shackles. Take your time to find best work place for you. Money is irrelevant and you will make more in future
Just go month to month after the lease for two months or so until you figure the next job out
This
Not an option now as OP is moving out and would have to sign a new lease elsewhere.
Good luck on your interviews! Just be mindful that companies may take more than a couple of weeks to extend an offer.
Sign the new lease and break it if you can afford the financial fallout. That dog could make it difficult for you to get short term housing.
Assuming that you have a lot of stuff and like your place: Ask to extend lease by one month or ask to go month to month. Will cost you a bit more but least hustle.
I actually don’t have much. The place is okay but they’ve already got someone moving in so month to month won’t be an option now.
Is there another apartment available in the same apartment complex? Moving within the same complex should be less hassle.
