Hello,

I was thinking a lot about this now. We all know that apps literally took over the traffic from websites. In most general cases people prefer apps over websites. I’m not considering ai as a threat right now.

My stipulation is, there may come a day when the cost of having a website ( engineers, managers, etc) up and running exceeds the profit they gain from sales done of website. Then there could be a snowball effect that would result in companies giving up on websites. On the contrary, i know that websites will always be shown on search engine and apps couldn’t get a share of that slice.

What do you think? Will website get obsolete ?
Are the frontend devs at risk in the future?

As someone working in Ads, the google.com website will stick around for at least a year if not longer...

Google is already building stuff to get app streaming infra. Stream apps from the cloud. Websites will die to offer cloud based apps which become more engaging and more native.

in truest sense frontend can be website, app, or whatever UI you want it to be. focus on building employable skills

in past couple of decades world went from static HTML pages, dynamic webpages built with php, to pages rendered with angular/react...changes are natural

it can be a lateral move too, as long as you have sufficient transferrable skills. plenty of people go back and forth between different dev areas

React Native and SwiftUI are both similar to React web. Even without those similarities, UI/UX problem spaces and thinking will be similar so your front-end skills should largely transfer to different platforms.

      OP
But lets say someone has 5 years of experience in web then if they would have to start from a lower level when they switch to app development right?

Not familiar with app development but is htmlcssreactvue experience absolutely not useful for app dev? For example from react to react native, they r related right?
