Looking to invest in Call options expiring in 2022 for Apple, Airbnb, Splunk, Palantir etc. Donโ€™t have enough capital to make a 200k portfolio. So Buying options by paying 30k premium seems to be a good bet. Even if 1 option goes ๐Ÿš€, it offsets all other losses. Any thoughts on this strategy given stonks only go up. #tech #stocks #options

Buy for at least 18 months out, not 12. You want to give yourself a little bit of time between long term cap gains and the options expiring. Do this because who knows what the market or that stock will look like at 12 months exactly, better to gauge what the average will be 12 - 18 months out.

You can buy SPY puts as insurance in case the market crashes. For however much I buy calls I buy 10% of puts in SPY.

Sometimes itโ€™s better to just sell quick if there are large gains early. Often times those gains will be lost in the near term which creates another opportunity to buy calls after already collecting your winnings. For example if you see a 75%+ gain within a month of buying you might just want to take the win and hope that it drops down again.

  • Just because its long term doesnt mean its not still risky....also, the premium will be pricing in the same benefit you see.....lastly. the market could be tanked by then and all expire worthless.......so are willing to lose all of it? (like any option purchase that's not a hedge)..if so, seems reasonable. (Especially if you believe the stonks thing๐Ÿ˜‰)
