My two previous jobs, I was in Technical Support. My current job has me in more of an account management position where I act as a middle man for customer and our support team. I'm making more than in Support, but looking to get back into a technical role, as feel I'd have more of a future in tech.

My buddy is an OpenShift TAM at Red Hat, and could likely get me in. I've also been applying for Customer Success positions, including a CSAM role at Microsoft. Wondering what direction makes the most sense to further my career. I'm leaning OpenShift TAM, but looking for any sort of guidance. I'm in the RTP area in North Carolina if that helps.

YOE: 4 in Support. 1 in account management
TC - 95K + 8% annual bonus. Raises are borderline non-existent

Any advice or direction would be awesome.

TAM is a natural segue but TC and quality of life are better if you make your way to sales

I just don't think I have the sales personality to make it worth my time. I def agree that sales is where the money is at for the most part. My other issue is that we Jake a kid coming in July... I assume most employers don't want to take me on for a few months and then give me a couple months of paternity...

Gratz on the baby! πŸ‘Ά Agreed that you may want to wait to make the jump until after the little one arrives
