Looking for Junior Level Machine Learning Roles

I am currently working as a software engineer. I have a MS in CS with emphasis on data science. Any referrals into startups in machine learning roles? in SF bay area or anywhere. Mainly targetting startups. I did my Masters thesis in Deep Learning framework for computer vision.

yes that's my problem. I have good knowledge on ML concepts and projects in text, nlp, compiter vision. Can it happen at all?

I have seen software engineers work in another group transition to ML but it is rare.

If you target startup you will mostly be working on data engineering than data science. This is because lack of data and insufficient infrastructure. For a well funded startup with lot of data you will invariably compete with people with PhD.

I am interested in working Data Engineer roles as well. The way I see it, that kind of experience is also helpful for ML roles. I know there is lot of competition with phd candidates but right now I'm not in a situation to do phd. What can I do?

Yup, that will open more doors for you. Why do you want to target startups in particular? There are plenty of great work happening in larger companies and they are always looking for people with your background.

yes you are right.

yes I know MS is not credited from all universities. There are people who work amd study really hard and I believe I am one of them. I will try until I find a role I like and worked for.

What have you actually done (lately)? For all those that say you need to have a Phd, it isn't always the case - a successful exit, strong ip filings (your own patents), or a solid track record can balance that out *i never finished my MS because I sold my first startup. It's never been an issue in 15 years
