Looking for advice on which opportunity to pursue
I have two offers for very different companies. One is for a backend position on an AWS team the other is a full stack position at a startup. Both in Seattle. I'm looking for some advice on which to take. I'll lay out my thinking on both.
Just a little history on me first. I've been a developer for 3.5 years, I have a master's degree in a technical field that isn't CS (went to a boot camp). I've held both Full stack and Front End positions mostly using JS (browser and node).
AWS - This job is obviously attractive to me as it would provide a huge resume boost and is a huge win for me personally (after only being in the industry for 3.5 years and not having a CS degree). I'm not really sure how much I'll enjoy the work as it's 100% backend and in Java.
Startup - The tech stack is very familiar to me (node.js and React). There are about 12 employees total and the company looks to be poised for major growth soon. I'd get equity, the pay and benefits are solid. I feel like I'd have more comradery with the other devs and enjoy the work more. Another reason this is attractive to me is that it's an opportunity to be a part of something in the very early stages.
I'm pretty torn between the two and just looking for some general advice. I'm leaning toward the startup as it seems like a limited time thing as opposed to AWS which will be there forever. But I don't want to throw away an opportunity to work at AWS either as I feel like I could do whatever I wanted to after that.
Appreciate any advice!
