Looking for applied stats mentor

Hi there,

Coming into Data Science from a non-stats background, I've always been fascinated with stats and wanted to learn to apply it to the complex, real-world problems. I've read some stats books and completed online courses, so I know the basic things about inference tests, distributions, probability, etc, but it's still not always easy to understand which stat methods are applicable for a given unstructured problem, what are the caveats and limitations, etc. Googling for those often leaves me with more questions than answers, and even the stats grads I talked to were not always helpful.

Hence, looking for someone with a good practical grasp of stats to help me build a better understanding/intuition of how the multitude of the stats methods can be used.
