I'm currently going into my second year in audit at EY. I'm going to write my CPA next September. i want to transition out of audit asap. looking into the following fields: management consulting/FP&A/analyst/private equity can anyone provide advice on how to make that transition (ie career moves/designations need) Thanks #consulting #analyst
But to clarify, of the options your best bet is fp&a but my personal opinion us that if you don’t like the pace and content of audit, fp&a is a distant cousin. I’d rule out strategy consulting (Bain McKinsey bcg) and pe (investing) without an mba. So that leaves banking. And from a big 4 you do have a shot getting lucky joining as a 1st year analyst if you hustle hard to get an interview... but it will be driven by the firm mis-hiring from their college recruiting.
Thanks for the clarification! That was very helpful. I'll prob look into MBA or analyst roles then

If by consulting you mean bain/mckinsey/bcg, by analyst you mean banking, and by pe you mean as an investor, I think the main way is to go to a top 5 business school. It will be very hard coming from audit. Proof: just look on LinkedIn for those already in these positions and you will see the patterns
That's if I don't want to go into for example Bain as a first year associate right. Then I would go to a top business school to land a senior position correct?
Yeah it'd be the post MBA position. It's really hard to make the switch from audit directly. Not trying to make you feel bad, just saving you some time from pursuing a very low probability strategy.
