Hey'all. I am a working-mom in a high stress environment. I have learnt to compartmentalize. I have a toddler and I am pregnant 9 weeks now.
I strength train and also have some low impact cardio included in my life style. Recently I have started eating healthy because my partner was asked to adopt a healthy lifestyle for medical reasons.
The problem is I am loosing weight, despite eating 4 times a day and resisting the urge to throw up. With my son by this time I had gained 5 pounds and 28 pounds overall during the pregnancy.
At 9 weeks now, I weigh 5 pounds lesser than where I started and worried if this is a cause of concern. I am going to reach out to my Ob gyn, but wanted to check with fellow mommas regarding the same.
I wish blind had a pregnancy topic. 😕

Second, just a couple of thoughts until you have a chance to talk to them:
Every pregnancy is different, so you may gain weight differently this time and that’s ok.
Losing weight in the first trimester in and of itself isn’t necessarily harmful to the pregnancy. It can happen with women who have trouble with a lot of nausea, for example, and they go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies.
The thing that I see as a little bit of concern is the “healthy” eating you have started with your husband. Healthy eating is good, of course, but that word can be very loaded. It sounds like your husband was likely given a diet directive by a doctor with a specific purpose, and that’s fine, but what his body needs and what your body needs are two VERY different things right now. That means what is “healthy” for him and what is “healthy” for you may also be different sometimes. You can be partners in supporting each other’s goal of doing what is best for each of your bodies without having to do it the same way.
Again, get guidance from your doctor on how to manage your diet and other lifestyle factors. If you are able, it might also be helpful to make an appointment with a nutritionist. They should be able to help give you guys advice on how to manage your and your husband’s dietary needs together.
