So, i little bit of my experience, when i was in brazil ( home country) i was a 3d artist and video editor, then i moved to US and got a job at youtube content review ( contract), then google play music data analyst(contract), facebook dev ops (contract), Baidu autonomous vehicle operator (contract) and then Tesla data annotation FTE... but i posted something online about MY CAR update THAT WAS ALREADY PUBLIC, and they got mad at me and i got fired... i didnt posted anything about internal stuff, not even early update, it was already public ( i checked, 250 cars were already updated on teslafi), and the rule was, only post or talk about it after is already public... anyway, now im not sure what to do, i can ask for my old job at baidu or facebook, i think i can get it because i left in good terms and they liked me... but i was not 100% happy and i feel like if i get something better im going to quit, and i dont want to look like i dont appreciate they taking me back... I love problem solving, the times that i have most fun at work is when something goes wrong and i have to troubleshoot it, so i thought about studying coding, i do understand HTML and css, but i get so distracted when im trying to learn coding... So know i wonder if i should focus in studying now and idk, do uber to pay the bills, or if i should look for a bootcamp... Any tips or opnions are welcome. thank you all edit: specify that it was my own personal car update, was nothing internal, it was my car!
Depends on your urgency. If you have bootcamp money and don’t need a new job immediately then it might be worth the try. But with virus situation it might delay things further. You’ll have to prepare brutally and then you might get entry level position.
Unfortunately I don’t have boot camp money, but they offer loans, but idk, I don’t like to borrow money, maybe in the end I can’t find a job? Or the interest is going to kill me? Idk
Don't do a bootcamp. Be self taught if you can't be self taught you'd probably fall at a bootcamp anyways
42 bootcamp in Fremont is free, but might be closed due to virus
Nice, I’m going to check it out
It was the worst timing to get fired...
Check the public charge list. Unemployment benefits might not be included. They were not included in the old version. In fact you'll be getting money from your former employer, not from the government. But that will work only if you were officially laid off.
Can you give me more info? I never heard about that
Here you go : https://www.edd.ca.gov/unemployment/Eligibility.htm https://www.uscis.gov/news/fact-sheets/public-charge-fact-sheet And looks like asylees are exempt.
Check out the book “Indistractable,” by Nir Eyal. Maybe it can help you figure out your issues staying focused. Also, it may hep to actually have a project you want to build — that will help you learn by doing, as opposed to learning concepts in a vacuum. I will say, however, that if you don’t like coding enough to stay focused and learn by doing, maybe it is not your thing. Beware of forcing yourself into something you don’t actually like. It will just make everything harder. Figure out what you really enjoy doing and pursue that. If it turns out it is software, that is fine. If it isn’t, that is fine as well. Good luck!
Thank you for the kind words, is just because I was thinking that I like problem solving, só coding might be a good one choice. For exemple I was not good with the hard part of 3D, I only liked because it was challenging and a lot of problem solving
You’re an idiot. Why would you post shit about your company? You’re just asking for it. Learn from this mistake and stay off of social media.
I think you didn’t understand, I was NOT posting anything about Tesla, I was posting about my own personal car update! I was not posting about anything internal
What the person meant was do not post anything on any forum that can be traced back to you or with people who you do not trust to keep private. It doesn't matter if it is internal or your own private blog. It is a well known thing that companies fire people who post their opinion.
Why couldn't you convert your past contracts into full-time roles?
Because they were entry level jobs, they would never convert to FTE
Can you file for unemployment? Finding a job right now will be challenging
