Interviewed for an EPC Proj Manager position at large EPC engineering/construction/consulting firm. Skills and experience all matched my own. Salary stated in the position posting was $110k-$187k. I stated my desired salary at $167k. Reason I didn’t ask for top number is that my yoe (10) was at the bottom of the range. My resume is excellent though.
Couple rounds of interviews, offer received at $96k with $36k bonus…. Didn’t even know what to say to that. I’m not going to rely on a bonus to pay bills.
Bit frustrating. I’m not a SWE and I’m not in tech, and outside of that world it has become apparent that being a wage-earner is a losing proposition.
Halfway through an MBA though, and looking forward to the next chapter. I expect a career pivot is imminent.
