so one of the low performer in my team is leaving our team and manager is dumping her work on me.. i cant leave as i just joined 7 months ago she has been in uber for over an year.. low lerformer wouldnt share what has been done so far and is troublesome to work with. this is something verfied by my manager and other coworkers as well. what do you suggest.. i dont mind picking his slack but why me?
Evaluated for what? Act like owner? So troublesome low performer who doesnāt deliver and cannot right a single prd decides uber is not good for him and resigns and I have to handle his stuff
You are mixing up pronouns. And you are whining. Are you sure the person leaving is a low performer , or are you just scared you won't be able to finish the work that the "low performer" was doing?
What exactly is wrong with your taking over? Are those not "shiny" enough tasks? Have a conversation with your manager on how you're going to prioritize them and whether or not someone else from the team can help you out.
I am the only one left u til they we hire more people but hey we have hiring freeze
Just make sure you communicate all these details to your manager and set the right message that it's unplanned and you've been busy already. Don't complain, just list facts and ask what are his/her expectations from you.
Read the code/repos/docs available and figure out your self
Doing that only.. this girl shares only half information and has a history of hiding things so that other person waste time to figure and only to realize she could have told
Was low performance woman pretty? Good behind?
Nope.. our catering ladies are far better
Wtf
I suggest you try to support a healthier culture going forward. Itās a major red flag that all of you would verify that a person is ātroublesome to work withā. Anyways- your issue is that there are a series of open questions that have been unresolved. I suggest you write a list of these very specific questions in a doc. Open ended questions are fine but you better make sub-bullets underneath to break it down. This person aināt gonna do it for you, apparently! Be nice. You sound irritated. People pick up on that. Be empathetic and kind to them, and you may create a win win. Everyone wants respect, you want your answers. They will give you more information if they donāt feel flooded with stress from working with you.
I worked with this person before and it was a hell experience. We had constant fights in fact she fought with everyone and was difficult to work with. She wouldnāt agree to your approach and then provide no alternative and we had to involve senior managers to prove that she is wrong and shut her up all the damn time. My manager agrees and so do other managers that this person is difficult to work with and breaks down on tough projects.. Will follow your advise
Just do the work and don't complain. I've had a couple senior engineers leave my team and I had to complete/productionize their buggy code. If they don't recognize your efforts later you can leave, but at least try.
Thanks .. same thoughts
Perfect time to shine. Pick up the slack and ask for a raise for stepping up and doing the right thing
Lol ok
Tbh OP, I have to agree with Market. And you sound potentially toxic to work with. Iām not saying this to troll, I just think itās better you are able to hear some feedback in an anonymous forum rather than having this bite you later. If this is you, you arenāt alone in having some difficult behaviors. I know Iāve been a real jerk in the past and it would have benefited me to realize I might need to reflect a little.
Women are still treated so horribly at Uber.

How can I find success dating in NYC
Who cares, throw away the work if you canāt read it and start from scratch ... who cares if the person leaving is a low performer or not, the results are the same
Project deadline is 2nd week of September.. I just got done with a major project and was hoping to take a break for few days and this happens..
Again the person leaving being a low performer has nothing to do with your options ... if you canāt deliver by that date just be upfront with your manager
