Some companies like Amazon offer a great stock grant (250k USD over 4 years) at SDE2 And then there is Walmart. Offered me $5500 vesting over 4 years at L72. And this is in Bentonville. Anybody else offered such low RSUs as a part of "talent retention" ? (and before you say $5500 is for entry level, the stock grant for senior software engineer is $6000 in BV)
Is it cash heavy? Itโs also in Bentonville where you can buy 2500sq ft house for 300k. Of course you will make less
Sort of 2yoe can get 120k with the 20percent bonus. But thats all.

Walmart can only match base. They have to keep non tech employees happy by doing so and overall it is a stingy company. Don't be in WM for money. It is no more in direction to be a tech friendly company. It's the whole BV vs the others politics.
It's kinda interesting that wallmart is the opposite of Amazon, there's always more stock here but we're stingy on base+bonus

Yes and no, your initial bonus is paid out over 2 years, but you're eligible for additional RSU's (theoretically) at any time though they're most likely given out when you up level
Wat? You get refreshers every year after year 2/3 to keep you at TCT. The vesting schedule for refreshers is pretty much 0/50/50 but in reality you may get the first one capped so it gets back loaded even more to 2 years out.

I donโt agree that amazon pays 250k$ of stocks for SDE2! I being myself SDE 2, itโs a total comp not just stocks! Thatโs too at highest end of SDE 2! Your comparison here is not apples to apples!

I agree with James-bond. I was hired as an SDE-2 and the RSUs at the time were less than 130k over 4 years. No significant refresh in the last 3 years because of stock appreciation.
