Would I be crazy to give up chill life and WLB for a higher scope and authority? (Snap vs FB)

Life at my current company is pretty chill, great WLB, friendly team, but still pretty deep technical problems in which I'm learning a lot. Would I be crazy to throw all of this away for the sake of increased scope?

On the other hand, one of my friends whom I trust very much told me about an opportunity on his team at FB and they would be willing to consider me for an E6 level which would likely match my current compensation. This is the ONE thing that I am lacking in my current position, which is pretty much lack of leadership opportunity, take forever to get promo, etc. Some of it ego, but some of it is also genuine desire to upgrade my level and take things to the next step. I genuinely am interested in contributing more to the holistic product/business side of an engineering team but there's it seems zero opportunity for that at my company.

Only thing, which friend is VERY honest and transparent with me about, is that team is extremely hardworking and WLB is pretty much like 60-70 hours per week. He is serious that the hours are stressful to him.

My personal thinking is that E6 is really hard to come by with my current YOE, and also if I can secure the experience and add it to resume, I'm pretty much able to stabilize this as part of my experience. Based on my current level, this would be equivalent to one promotion or even a double promotion for me.

YOE: 4 *
TC: 700K

* (Technically, 6 YOE, but it's 2 years at unprestigious company, 4 years at current and joined as "new grad" equivalent)

Try interviewing then weigh your options. But it's pretty unlikely fb would consider you for E6. Snap pays well but it doesn't have a top tier rep.

You’ll struggle at E6 with your experience, and if a normal people there has to work 60-70h, imagine what it would be like for you, who is not a seasoned E6. Your TC at snap is crazy, don’t leave it.

@OP, please take this the right way: you sound ambitious, impatient, and very young. That's not meant as a harsh critique. My advice: try to take some perspective, to not give-in to your impulses, and to avoid the temptation of thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Because it sounds like you are in a very sweet spot (the sweetest of spots possible, frankly): chilled-out job, nice colleagues, interesting work, and ultra-high $$$ ($700k, with 4 YOE, damn). 99% of us would kill to be in such a position. Seriously, congratulations. Now, don't go throw that all away, for some shiny new gig that comes your way! ;-) Best of luck.

4 year of experience and you think you can crack E6? More then likely you will be downleveled, even at E6 your current comp is really high so why leave now
