Amazon Comp Increase is just another Facade

Am I the only one who feel that this whole comp increase exercise is just another facade?

In my opinion it works exactly like capitalism - make rich richer and don't worry about others. Pay equity was not a thing and will never be at Amazon, simply because they don't give a damn about it. I am seeing many many examples where a person already in the higher side of the band is given more increase compared to the ones who are on the lower side.

Amazon could have done this whole exercise without giving hopes to those who deserve better, given they already perform on par with their peers or better than them, but are way underpaid just because they are internal employees.

    Pay band increase has nothing to do with pay equity among different performance levels. It’s to bring pay equity with the rest of the industry, so people don’t jump ship.

    There’s literally no company in the world who has pay equity like you described.

    Hire and Develop the Best, and PIP the rest! They only want to retain TT. The rest are just on-call labor.

    let's wait and see, I'm pretty sure it will backfire.

    I see HV2s got only 5% (TC dropped due to stock) knowing his peers got a huge increase.

    this will only increase attrition and the company needs to spend more and more money to hire

      Q3-Q4 promotions have that problem. I was promoted to 6 in Q3. Got a measly raise and the reason I got was: I was above the L5 pay band, which was true. The next PCS cycle, I couldn’t get TT because apparently I hadn’t been a L6 long enough. So I was at the bottom of the L6 band. Maybe if I had stayed that year and got TT, I would have seen a decent pay bump.

      I feel you OP, Q3-4 is a horrible time to get promoted

    Equity != Equality.

    And the pay bands were increased to be competitive in the market. They fucked up because they didn't give in-year RSUs to many people to even bring them to the floor of the band, from what I read on internal channel (though I myself got a 36% raise in base to bring me to the floor of the new band at my level)
