I accepted a role with a "smaller" US company, owned by a bigger retailer company. I won't name them because then I'll be easily identifiable.

Essentially, I'm a person who will require a TN visa. The company's background check requires a SSN but I don't have one. I can't get one without a valid work authorization, for which the company can't provide unless I pass their background check. So we're at an impasse.

My recruiter told me that they're trying to figure out a solution but we're 3 weeks in since I accepted the offer, with little to no communication or details about what they're doing to find a solution. I've followed up plenty and was reassured they're trying to find a solution. The only solution is to either do a background check in my country, or to provide work auth and then complete it. Not sure what's taking so long.

I like the job and company and want to proceed with them, but at this point I'm feeling like I should move on.

I'm concerned the company is just stringing me along now and interviewing other candidates with no intention of hiring me and not telling me.

I might still have a shot with another offer, but I wasn't super excited about that job. Better a bird in the hand.

I have started accepting new interview requests but quite tired of interviewing.

So thoughts? Should I move on here? Has the company given up on me and isn't being honest?

    Meanwhile, keep interviewing.

What can you lose by waiting? Imo, just wait. I know is frustrating, but hold tight, pretend they backed out but dont tell them anything.

The other offer I had. It's been almost 3 weeks now, so they will likely fill the role soon.

It's unlikely they are trying to fill with someone else. More likely HR is being lazy and this is getting forgotten about. Time to write a strongly worded email or make a phone call, mentioning that you are really excited about this opportunity but you can't afford to wait even another week.
