I was told that it will be a casual talk during the lunch interview and later just 5 minutes before the alloted time I was asked a design question. It was a noisy restaurent. While I was talking through my design idea we had to walk back to the office. is this mormal?
Similar experience at Microsoft. Food was so bad I had to struggle to eat it.
Maybe it was just random small talk.
Well then, should the hiring decision be made based on this small talk?
At least at G there is no option to give feedback on lunch, we're just supposed to reach out to the recruiter if something really bad happened, but that's like, if TC punches you or something. I assume it's the same at other big companies.
The recruiter is asking if I have any questions or concerns, should I let him know about this? Will it have a negative impact if I join the team?
At LinkedIn we definitely don't ask coding/design questions during lunch interview. It's about gauging the candidate's interest in LinkedIn & watching for any obvious red flags. We might casually chat about some tech concepts, but that's all.
What would a non-obvious red flag be? What sort of response?

Sounds like a shitty Seinfeld episode where Jerry interviews at Amazon.
