They simply raised base fares on Lyft Pink to match that of normal Lyft. (And then flat-out denied it.) https://thepointsguy.com/news/lyft-pink-price-discrepancies/ My commentary: I believe they planned this out intentionally because there are just too many smart people at Lyft to not realize that Lyft Pink pricing was unsustainable. However my guess is they are relying on their good PR status (a projected “woke” image) to cover them. (Similarly, Lyft is currently operating illegally in CA and made no changes in response to AB5.) How long will it be till the media catches up? (Note this was originally posted by someone else in Uber’s internal channel.)
My gf has pink, I don’t..we usually compare the prices on my device and hers and she always gets cheaper rates
Right, the article mentions it doesn’t happen all the time. My guess is they are A/B testing it. Possibly, the base price increase only kicks in if there will be a significant price difference, or if their algorithm thinks you won’t care.
Well based on my real life experience it NEVER happened to me, that’s all I can say🙂
Lol, coming from uber. Did you even read the article? There is no conclusive evidence, not reproduceable. But you are the truth arbitrer. LYFT is operating illegally but uber is okay by your definition, so must be true
> There is no conclusive evidence, not reproduceable Of course you guys are too smart to not do a blanket price increase without first A/B testing. A base price increase of 25% is too high to be simple “algorithmic experimentation.” There is definitely Lyft Pink (or incentives in general) as an input to the model. > LYFT is operating illegally but uber is okay Uber made SIGNIFICANT changes in response to AB5 (drivers have much more rights now, which I think is good), and as a result our riders often have longer wait times. For example drivers can see where riders are going, have unlimited cancellations, can set waypoints an unlimited number of times etc. Our business is suffering from it. What has Lyft done in response to AB5?
In my experience even with Lyft Pink, the price is still higher than normal Uber.
There is no need to make simple ride haling so complicated. This is why I use transit.
Virtually no chance this is real
Apparently they are A/B testing group pickups with multiple vehicles for Lyft Pink where if two passengers ride in the pink the other one can ride in the stink which is in the trunk. The pricing for the stink passenger appears cheaper if they agree to get in through the rear but the pink/stink pricing is actually more expensive.
What a shocker
I have Lyft pink and it’s usually much cheaper than Uber for me, but not always.
Same here
Lol @ getting your "news" from thepointsguy.com.
the* and don’t underestimate the points community lol....
Given the volume TPG pushes, quality isn’t the highest priority. This is click bait. Same article with a couple of words changed: Is uber raising prices for me since I have AMEX credits? But I once compared prices and someone in a similar location slightly later had a cheaper price. “Lyft does not alter the undiscounted upfront price for any riders based on their membership or ride pass. Full stop”
> Given the volume TPG pushes, quality isn’t the highest priority. This is click bait. Look at the facts and what is being said, not who is saying it. > Is uber raising prices for me since I have AMEX credits No because we don’t game our prices by putting silly things in the pricing algorithm. Also, Uber is too focused on profitability to do something extreme like a blanket 15% discount — the small number of Amex credits is far less than that. In the article it’s clearly stated that once people signed up for Pink, their base prices jumped so that the total was very close to the original. It’s just too coincidental — I highly suspect that incentives and promotions (along with price sensitivity) are included in the pricing model. If this is the case, it’s straight up bait-and-switch on CSR users.
What article did you read? I’m not seeing anything about price jumping after signing up in the TPG link.

I am getting rid of chase Sapphire reserve before the new charge kicks in. These are the fake benefits that we don't need for an extra 100$
What are you moving to? Also the same thought - i never order from doordash either.
