Posting here on behalf of my wife : I have an offer from Facebook as a Rotational Engineer (145/0/60) and an offer from Lyft as a T4 (185/550/20). FB offer has no equity and a 12 month offer after which if I graduate then they match me to a E4 or higher. https://www.facebook.com/careers/life/facebooks-rotational-engineering-program Thoughts about FB: - great brand to have on my resume. - Risky for my h1b since it’s a 12 month offer. - Ability to try out two different teams and choose what I want if I graduate. - will know offer only if I graduate in which case won’t have a competing offer at that time. Thoughts about lyft : - higher base and Rsu package. - no risk to my visa status. Currently working at Redhat : 4 Yoe, base 135, 200k/4 years. I’m leaning more towards lyft , your comments would be extremely valuable , thanks a lot. :)
Lyft
Def Lyft. Rotational is risky given the visa she's on.
What does 185/550/20 mean in this context
WOW! Lyft offers T4 with 185k base! I remembered Uber offered google T6 with $145K base not long ago
Yep! It’s a strong offer. Not too sure how to view the RSUs though since it’s not liquid at the moment. What are your opinions ?
Solid
Congrats! Great Lyft offer. Go to lyft. Lots of former fb there to work with.
Thanks!
What’s her yoe? If she is early in her career, fb makes sense.
Relatively early , about 4.5 years work ex with masters.
My impression was that lyft moves super fast and cuts corners whenever they can. I would say that Facebook can teach much more comparing to them. Did she apply to that rotational program directly? My wife also considers that program:)
Rotational eng basically means you’ll have to prove yourself to get a permanent position. Go to Lyft, you can always come to FB later
