What should I expect for a fair salary/RSU package from Lyft as senior software engineer or possible staff engineer? I have 15 years experience. Thanks in advance.
Given uber just raised few billion, you should wait a bit. You should have more leverage now compared to those who joined in the last few months.

What level are you getting? T5, t6 or t7?
If you are staff at twitter there is no way you should accept t5.
Why not Uber?
Not sure why my friend is not applying to Uber. As for me, I'm just worried about Uber post IPO. They seem to have raised a lot of money. Not sure if that's gonna translate to anything at the IC level. Remember I'm coming from Twitter so we've gotten smashed to shits post IPO. Not sure if I can take one more of those. 😭
If ICs at Uber like myself get smashed to shit post-IPO, you can be certain that Lyft ICs are going to fare far far worse. That said, with all the media bias, I understand why you would have that concern. I have the advantage of seeing how things really are from the inside. I've ended up with nothing from past companies and the situation at Uber is excellent. It's no worse than Facebook or Amazon pre-IPO.
OP,you should seriously consider Lyft
Make a case for Lyft and back it up. Choosing your next job is a big life decision for the OP. The OP deserves better than this. Data drives smart decisions.
Lol back up Uber. You guys are about to take a down round at best a flat round. What incentive does he have to join from an upside standpoint.
Why people still want to join uber at this point? SoftBank wants 30% discount from uber which will put uber valuation at 50b. Why not just wait and see what will happen?
They are demanding 30% discount not because that's what uber is worth, but because they know they can threaten to give Lyft the money. They don't actually want to give Lyft money or they would have already the first time they talked to you a few weeks ago. They don't believe Lyft will win. Forcing the discount with that threat is an effective way to guarantee upside. They know the company is worth more, but if the can buy low and know they've made at least 30% on day 1. It's the same reason institutional investors buy IPO shares they know are underpriced and will pop on the first day. Remember, they might get a discount on Uber, but they passed on Lyft.
There is possibility that Uber's valuation will be back to $50b. Why not wait and see what will happen? Got the point?
Are you staff at Twitter? If not, you won't be here.
Ouch that's harsh but yeah I'm staff
Then why would you even consider senior at Lyft? Staff at Lyft will definitely get north of 400K TC.
