Lyft interview feedback

I completed my second phone interview with lyft and it went well, now recruiter says that there isn’t a team with open head count and is not able to find a match and hence can’t proceed with the onsite. I am confused of what that means, is it a reject?

I don't understand how you are confused. The recruiter told you exactly why you aren't getting an on-site interview.

I was confused by what open head count is and how it’s related to finding a match.

No open headcount means they currently aren't hiring anyone. They can't find a match because there is no team that is hiring anyone.

By reading that you had 2 phone interviews, I think that you didn't do great on the first one and they wanted to give you a second try, but you didn't do as great on the second one, so they don't have a position for the level or experience they think you are currently. Cause I know they are hiring, got an offer a few days ago from them at level 5.

I can confidently say that I aced coding in both the interviews. I don’t understand where/what I missed apart from coding.

Well the only time I've had to do more than 1 phone interview, if any at all, was when I did poorly and they gave me a second chance (first time interviewing), after that I had never had more than one. Sometimes they even skip it and go straight to on site (like if you already have multiple offers from FANG companies)

I had an interesting interview loop with Lyft as well. I made it through onsites, and the feedback seemed positive. Then a few days later, my recruiter called me and told me that the team I was interviewing for wanted someone more senior now, and they wanted to see if they could find me a spot in another team. In the end, I didn’t wait for them since I already had two offers and pretty much had already made a choice. Their interview process seemed pretty disorganized after the phone screens.

Yeah their order seems weird, first you have to pass the whole loop, and then they find a team or teams that are interested in you, if they don't find then they leave you in "hold", or if you talk to the team and they don't like you or you don't like them, they also put you on "hold" until another teams find interest in you.

OP, what location are you interviewing for? The satellites have much less head count right now. Regardless, my pure speculation says that we simply don't have a good team with openings that is a match for your skills at the moment. Hope that makes sense.

I interviewed for SF.
