I recently cleared the m1 loop and am currently setting up HM calls for team matching. Would love to hear about which orgs are the most fun, and ideally, support a remote m1 position. Any advice on updated comp ranges to target would be awesome too. To give back, here's how I prepared, nothing super different from other advice already out there: 1. Behavioral/People Management: went through resume and noted specific instances of challenges + learning -- made sure I could clearly and cripsly articulate the problem + impact. I think it's important to show empathy and how you've grown people in the past/performance management. 2.Coding: did ~20 LC questions tagged for fb. I made sure to target different types of problems that require use of different approaches/datastructures. 3. System Design: Made a list of non-functional requirements to clarify (latency/throughput/#of users/datavolumen/security/privacy). Mapped what tech/datastores fit which general usage patterns. I didn't spend time on specific walkthroughs on youtube (eg: design youtube/netflix etc). TC:~500k. 9yoe. New TC: need to get back to meta with a number. #meta #m1 #team-matching #negotiation #
Which office are you applying to? Are you by any chance a German speaker? If so it would be super interesting to hear how you made the jump into big tech.
I'm in the US. In terms of big tech, I have a bunch of startup experience so have stayed close to the technical side + had a bunch of people management challenges that I've had to manage over time. I've been reluctant to get into big tech, but amazon helped me see the scope+impact possible there so enjoying the transition.
Thanks!
l6?
yup, currently l6 sdm.
Congrats on clearing the loop! Is this for a sem role?
yes, it' a software engineering manager role.
Damn it! Another Amazon manager moving to meta 🤦🏼♂️
haha
Just kidding. Congratulations man!
Congratulations ! How long did it take to get the response after your onsite ? I completed my onsite a little over a week ago and waiting for the response.
thanks and good luck! It took 1-2wks to hear back the decision, but the recruiter was in touch in terms of expected timelines.
Congrats - making the same move myself!
nice! How's negotiating/team matching going?
Done a little over a month ago :)
Same here , trying to get more suggestions for team matching
Don’t do external team matching. Insist on bootcamp
