MBA?

Tc 95k in a mid-sized midwest city, 7 yoe in purchasing and supply chain. Goals of being a director/vp by the time I'm 40. 34 now. Is pursuing my MBA worth the hassle or should I just keep accruing experience in the field? Been promoted 4 times in 7 years, just looking to keep the growth going.

MBAs have much less value today than they did 5 to 10 years ago. Seems it's mostly useful for networking and changing careers. If you're on track for continued growth then you're probably fine to stay where you are or switch companies for a title bump.

Agreed

Your age is right, you can benefit from MBA if the company pays for some of it, in my opinion. Look at Michigan they have good reputation in manufacturing. Talk to your managers, ask for advice

Thanks. Manufacturing is my field, automotive specifically, so I will do that.

@95k TC you wouldn’t see a huge jump, but the question is are you happy in supply chain. If you want to climb the supply chain ladder and you have line of sight to getting the Director role in the next 6 years, skip it. If you don’t love supply chain/ want to broaden your prospects in supply chain, you should pursue at a legit (top 25 only) full time program. TC coming out of B school is easily 125-140 depending on where you want. Just at Amazon supply chain you would see a big step up in stock options and signing bonus, particularly with your deep expertise

I actually love Purchasing and Supply Chain. Been primarily focused in manufacturing (automotive) on capital equipment and tooling. I feel TC is really good for my area but want to jump to a bigger market once I have my skills and education in line. Where do you find info for Amazon SC? I did MRO buying for a few years, worried my skills wouldn't translate well to another field though.
