thinking of doing MBA 18+ yrs of exp HW engineer any use with MBA degree ?
What do you want to do with your mba?
Change from tech role to management chain I am top 10% high performance slave but not able to move to management chain
IMO MBAS allows for such transition for people with less experience. If after 10 YOE you were not given a chance to lead, I'm afraid an MBA isn't going to do it. Look for an internal LDP. Get paid and move closer to your goal.
MBAs are a waste of time for most folks. Enrollment has fallen off a cliff.
It’s great if you’re already in PE, VC, IB, consulting though
MBA is waste of time, even from top 5
MBA won't get you into management chain
Why did you wait so long to move to mgmt ladder?
Tired of coding and doing hands on. Want to make money by telling stories like most of the executives
Where do you think your skills will be transferable to some extent? Product management ..operations..marketing? Or just up the ladder in hardware like a project manager?
Get management exposure by getting related projects at Intel.
Got an MBA from Virginia tech. Knowledge I'd say mostly useless. Finance classes got me to fire my financial planner and just use index funds. So this more than paid for itself. The techies in the program knew it was mostly bullshit. Business majors were idiots who did not understand the difference between required to graduate and useful. They put the MBA at the top of resume too. Very easy compared to a tech degree. I have a master's in software engineer that though not that hard (since I was already working when I started) was more work than MBA . The finance classes are business level technical. Meaning it's hard for business people. I went at night and was not a big deal. Firing my financial planner made the degree worth it. He was ripping me off. Major wall street asshole. Read the book random walk down wallstreet. Then just use index funds at vanguard, fidelity, t rowe price. Go for lowest fees. Buy and hold. Reinvest dividends. Invest same each month. I'm terrible at typing on phone. So lots of bad grammar
Care to share your top 5 index recommendations?
Curious how have things progressed for you?
Unless you go to top 10 it’s a waste of your time and money! IMO. I’m MBA grad myself (not top 10).
Bay Area what are best ones to do a meaningful MBA ? Goal : make tons of money and management chain
Doesn’t matter where just make sure it’s a top school.
