MBA with specialization in Biz Analytics or MS in Biz Analytics???

I’m a HW engineer looking to pivot to business analytics. My former employer has a role open that I’m interested in but not currently qualified for. The hiring manager (who I know well) told me she’d consider hiring me down the road if I was halfway through either an MBA or an MSBA. Which should I pursue? Online MBA: at either Illinois or University of Boston. Both are only $22k - $24k over 2-3 year. Both schools are perenial top 50 programs but obviously not top top. I’m not looking for M7 and taking two years off so don’t bother going there ;) Online MSBA: one example is Georgia Tech, highly ranked in this discipline. 2-3 year program, looks like around $10k. If I stayed at my current job for the first half of the program, MBA would cost me a few thousand and MSBA would be free after tuition reimbursement. Not sure if I could get tuition reimbursement after switching back to my old employer. Either way fairly low cost. I care less about the prestige of the degree on my resume and more about getting my foot in the door. Once I’m in the new role, work experience will move my career forward in Biz Analytics, not a degree. What would you do? TC 380k YEO 13 yr

Most business analytics roles would be a sizable paycut from your current TC. Are you willing to take that hit to make a move ?

Perhaps, my wife and I have saved up over the years and I’m looking to work on something different. My stock is about to fully vest within a year and TC will drop to 240. Salesforce doesn’t refresh stock typically, and if they do it’s minimal. What’s a typical TC of a business analyst at Amazon?

With your YOE, you should definitely get Sr BA (L6) where the total comp for a should be around 180 ish
