I got an MBA as a way to pivot my career and enter Big Tech. I spent the last year as a PMM @ MS. For other MBAs in big tech, especially those with 2+ years post-MBA experience, what was your career path and what advice do you have for growing your career after that initial post-school position? Did you have to switch companies to grow? What types of projects/roles led to the most growth? I'm most concerned about career growth (increasing impact and responsibilities, moving up the ladder) rather than solely on TC. To preempt some snark - yes I know MBA isn't necessary at all in tech, but I personally was lucky to be in a financial position to do it, got into a top 5 program, made a bunch of talented new friends, and it helped me break into that first big tech role, so to each their own path. #mba #tech
Would your preference be to switch companies or further your career at MS?
Giving MS at least one more year before deciding
Wasn't investment banking etc. Not very attractive to you?
Investment Banking jobs are very difficult to get..
But he said, he's part of a top 5 program.

Fyi I went from MBB to tech, YOE 4, but went into sales strategy. Gain more technical product knowledge through personal study or you’re going to be considered one of the dumb non-tech guys. Especially as a PMM. It’ll help you advance much quicker due to actually understanding the product vs. winging it.
Yeah that's one thing I've noticed becomes a differentiator after year 1. When you're recruited in, they treat all MBAs the same, but after a year it's clear who has more of the tech background/who is willing to do their homework on the product
Hey OP I DM’d you about the PMM role, not sure if you’re on the mobile app to check it out.
