My company went public last year, and we are now in a lockout period where we cannot sell stocks. My question is, if I leave before the lockout period is up, am I still subject to the lockup period even though I will no longer be an employee?

Are you asking about exercising or selling your stock. Exercising options does have a time-line, usually 90 days, if you leave the company. As far as I understand lockup period applies to sell the stocks and it is still applicable, whether you are an employee or not.

  • This will be in your company's S1 and likely in your company's internal wikis/docs. I would also confirm by asking your HR/equity/etc team directly. It all varies slightly by company, so blind is unlikely to be helpful to you.
