Ever since I joined tech, I’ve seen too many unhappy people with high TCs yet they do not know what they are living for besides money.
In college i learned about the philosopher Sartre who said we should follow our intrinsic interest and not follow extrinsic interests. Those who follow their passion are the ones who are most likely to succeed and be happy in life. Focus on what you truly love, what’s in your head 24/7, and you will not work a day in your life. Coming from a pre-med/pre-health background, the happiest people I know were my classmates in pre-health majors who were genuinely interested in science/health and wanted to maximize their life’s purpose by serving the community and healing people. Their lives are meaningful, they had a purpose other than the money. I ended up in tech, but also find myself unhappy at times and surrounded by other unhappy people who’s sole purpose is to make more money.
Not saying all people in tech are this way, but just wanted to remind people to focus on the meaning/purpose instead of the money. :)
