ML Google Seattle or Kirkland - Team Matching

Like a standard SWE interview but with ML design instead of System design.

Well, I’m looking for a team, so not 100% sure how it is at Google. It is about doing research + developing ML models and working on deployment at scale. Should be similar to Applied Scientist at Amazon but with some extra engineering work.

I think you need to read research papers or courses online first to get a sense of the available methods for standard problems like classification, ranking, recommender problems etc. You need to ask the right questions to the interviewer, identify tradeoffs for speed vs. accuracy (for example) etc Then you need to think about the design of the full system. For this look at Grokking the system Design. It’s not perfect but it gives you some tools if you don’t have enough time to prepare.

Thanks OP for the pointers. I have mainly been reading blog posts will look into research papers as well. any particular links or topics you found very useful ? One more question : did you use Deep learning methods to design systems ? or classical methods will suffice? hope you will find a team soon !
