ML Talent/Prestige: Bell Labs???
Asking for a friend. Anyone has inside info on what the level of ML Talent/Prestige there is in Bell labs? My impression was like... They're still in business? I thought Bell labs collapsed last decade? Or am I misinformed?

I think it's Bell Labs company/org.

zorkan Feb 22, 2019I think Nokia owns them these days. Haven't seen much out of there in the AI research sphere this millenia. They were basically FAIR in the 80s -even Yann LeCun was there poking around with with convnets. It's ground zero for a lot of inventions, could be like working in a museum.

Bell Labs peaked long ago. The best ML talent in industry is at FAIR, Google Brain, and OpenAI
