I'm hoping to stay in finance when I leave GS but comments about MLE here have gotten my attention. Do MLEs in big tech actually automatically get stronger offers towards the top of the band? Do they level similarly for similar YoE? Top of L4 band is actually quite strong comp compared to a lot of quant firms with only a few exceptions. YoE: 4 TC: 160 No PhD
Don’t you think you would retire from GS?
Huh?
You make enough to retire in a few years then you font care
Anyone from LinkedIn or FB have any info?
They’re rarely different unless you have some sought after specialty.
I’m MLE. As far as I know it’s a vanity title (at Amazon), comp is the same as SDE. There is project to make it different job family though...who knows in the future.

No, at least at G. Almost everyone gets the standard offer and you have to show competing offers to go up from there. Edit: I should also note that there is no MLE title at G.
Software engineer, Machine Learning on the careers page is what I was referring to. I guess there's also Research engineer, I assume it's a similar story?
Research Eng is different I think. The "Machine learning" on the career page is just part of the job desc, not actually part of the job title / ladder.
