Why have a regular coinbase account instead of pro?

Crypto noob here. Opened a coinbase account and bought some BTC paying hefty fees. Was recommended to use coinbase pro instead. Bought some BTC in pro. I'm seeing posts on transferring BTC from pro to coinbase.

Not sure why I should do this? Since pro has lower fees, should I even use coinbase? Should I transfer from coinbase to pro and uninstall/close my coinbase account?

  • DCA? You dont have that in Pro, so I guess some people might find it useful despite the high fees.

Can you elaborate on dollar cost averaging of btc? It's just buying fractions of the coin right? Is this not supported in pro?

It’s when you do automated periodic buys. Helps smooth out volatility. I highly recommend it because it takes the emotion out of investing, and you actually cheer for the price to go down so that your periodic buys purchase more Satoshis.

However, there are cheaper options for that. Swan Bitcoin has lowest fees for DCA.

  • The UI/UX is much simpler for the masses in the base version. You can also stake some coins and earn a return on the base version.

Those are the only benefits of base over Pro
