Thinking of applying for MS in Applied Mathematics at Columbia. Last year admit stats - GRE avg at 331 and GPA at 3.8. Good part is the focus on machine learning specific courses. Question - Before I invest 1.5 - 2 years doing this, just wanted to understand how useful are the breadth of courses taken as part of this degree useful in the industry for an ML/AI engineer and what is the outlook? I think it's viable if you can pass the stupid leetcode portion fine. The quant part of the gre is the only one that really matters, 167+ is good. NYU data science program looks decent too, I really like the professors theyv e hired recently in that area.
