Is an MS in CS worth it (part time) from online programs like {Georgia Tech OMSCS, UT Austin online MSCS, Stanford SCPD}? Please answer the question from the perspective of someone who has a CS undergrad from a place like UCLA, Michigan, or even Berkeley. Side note: cost and time commitment per week are not an issue
No, if you already have a BS and work experience the MS is of little gain unless you want to PhD and move to academia
The only benefit from MS is the stuff you learned or visa perk as a foreigner. It won't get you a promotion or pay rise though that you couldn't get by putting those hours into other self improvement
Value has to be derived and not subjective to any goal. I can be a graduate from top schools and still end up being nothing. You are currently in Microsoft, so technically speaking you are already on a right track. Part-time masters won't necessarily be of great value in short term, however, in the long run it might prove otherwise. The value that part-time masters create has to be derived by yourself. You need to be able to optimize your life for long-term success.
Did my undergrad from a top 3 school — I don’t think it’s worth it unless it’s Stanford SCPD. You already have a good school name on your resume, so focus on having a good company name on there. Having two good schools on there looks impressive, and maybe you can make some good contacts, plus the education at SCPD is good too.
What about if you did undergrad at a no name school but work as a SWE at Google? Seems like a MS in CS (especially Stanford HCP) might be beneficial, what do you think?
Not worth for someone who done CS in undergrad
The entire value of a degree is finding knowledge and training that you couldn’t easily find on the Internet or in the industry. For the most part if you already have a CS degree, this is fairly low. There are only a few niche subjects where a degree program may be useful i.e. cyber security or ML, because they remove the barrier of entry.
Nooooo, online classes are not competitive as
I got one from omscs. Highly recommended. More than anything it teaches you to be disciplined, have better time management, keep your brain sharp, ability to learn topics.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
I bet this is for spouse? Sorry to break the news. Part time MS has no value
Why no value? By part time, is that the online degrees they offer for like 10k?
It still has value because most online programs are indistinguishable (by granted degree) to the full time programs. The Georgia tech program costs less than $10K total. The other programs have higher costs (with Stanford having a total cost ~$60K)
