I received an offer from MS last month when I just moved to another employer on H1B transfer receipt notice (regular processing). I guess the former employer already revoked my previous H1B petition (while my I94 is still valid until midst next year). There's no premium processing in the meantime at least until Feb 2019, so MS revoked the offer and told me to wait until I get H1B transfer approval, then start the whole hiring process again (interview from scratch). I don't know why they could not keep the offer for 6 months or more, I don't mind taking the interviews again but it's quite effort & time consuming to keep my interview skills sharp until then. Apart from that, there's a risk of getting H1B transfer rejection. In that case, what are my options?
Why would they keep the offer on hold for 6 months? They most probably have someone else in the interview loop who can join earlier than that.
This is an oversight from the recruiting team. They collect all the docs at the time of interview and they also know who needs visa. No point in conducting interviews and then say, hey we can't wait for 6 months.
Agree, but you never know when a second good candidate or an internal transfer might show up. 6 months is a long time and as a hiring manager, there is a high probability of me pulling the offer.
This sucks, disappointed in Microsoft. We used to support all hires even if they had visa issues. Now it's just another crap company. Ballmer >> Satya
Ballmer sucked
Why can’t they move you to an overseas location till things are sorted out?
The hiring manager probably needed to fill his head count. Sometimes if you don’t fill it, you lose it.
So sad ! I don’t think you can do anything here but move on
It's not a charity. They are hiring because there is work that needs to get done. Get over it.
Even if they agreed to put you on hold, nothing is guaranteed. You are better off keeping your “interview skills sharp”. Who knows,it may lead to better company and better tc

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?

I’m Sooo Happy about Biden signing TikTok ban bill today!!
They don’t like when you flip frequently on the H1B. Be careful not to break your status. Moving slowly and cautiously is the best approach.
