Have ~7 years experience (3 in a startup), was expecting 63 but Microsoft is offering me 61. I believe I did good in the interviews, except for one where I did solve it but couldn't get to the most optimal solution. I am yet to get the numbers, but not going in as a senior is bothering me, am thinking about staying in Cisco otherwise. Is it reasonable to ask for a senior level (63 or 64) when they are offering 61? There must be someone out there who pulled this off. TC: 210K
You got 61 and want 64? Haha You might be able to get 62 but 63-64 is simply not gonna happen Are you currently the equivalent of a Microsoft Senior? Not just by title that is. Your TC suggests you’re 61-62 today.
By title, I am definitely in the high 62 band or 63. Have been a senior (G10) for 2 years now. If we ignore the title, I believe I deserve a 62 at least. Guess my TC is well in the range of standard Cisco pay for seniors.
61 is an insult.
Did you already get 61? Your comments say that you are yet to get the numbers.
I meant the tc. Recruiter told me verbally that from the feedback, it would be 61.
@OP: Did you get the numbers yet? I am waiting on an offer for 61 too. Curious on how much they’re offering now.
I’m 24 and a 61. You need to push for 63 but don’t accept anything below 62...
Thanks. I am thinking on similar lines about this.
From what I hear from friends at msft, it's all on the interview perf. If you impressed the folks, they will do something to at least get you to accept. May not be necessarily level up but some sign on or rsu. Other msft folks here can comment more.
Which team btw?
Usually it’s about 9-10 years to senior for the average person. Also I think if you came from FAANG you might have been offered more.
Stay
Stay at Cisco?
To be Honest, your TC is decent for 7 years experience. Atleast as compared to Intel. At Intel , it would take atleast 12 years for TC210. Anyways, with that TC, I am assuming your expectation would be at least TC 240 to jump this ship. Which I am not sure which MSFT level can guarantee.

It is reasonable. They might be able to match your comp for 61 or 62 but your growth is going to be slow. So I won’t recommend to accept below 63. Get a competing offer from another company.
Thanks. If I get 62 and assuming that I meet expectations, how long would it take to become senior?
Curious question to @DvRC04, does levels matter so much at msft? I mean, if they match the comp then it's good right?
