I recently got an offer from Microsoft and accepted offer 2 weeks ago. After that they started my background verification check. They told me to mutually decide joining date once they done with my background check. It has been 2 weeks ( 10 business days) still I didn’t hear back from them. I have plan coming soon for holidays and traveling outside the country. How long does it usually take for background verification check? How would I gently ask recruiters about joining date and know her my plans to go on vacation? PS: Visa Status F1
Ya it’s a pretty tedious process. The third party service reached out to me for additional information when I first joined there. You can reach out to them with your application number to see what the status is.
Reach out to them and figure out the bottleneck. You may be able to help.
BG verification usually takes 2-3 weeks. Sometimes your ex employers or school might take time to reply. Mine took almost a month.
Background checks takes time, especially if you've a foreign degree. If the details you furnished are all true, don't fret over it. Have seen it taking up to a month.
Between, companies usually let you start if your criminal record check is clean, which is usually the quickest.
bro, I waited 3 months for everything to get settled. 2 weeks is nothing, just ask if you can travel on holiday if yes, then go at it. Microsoft have slow visa process... they file everything with uscis and it takes long long time for gov to do any type of shit
it might be delayed due to the holidays since the background check provider probably has to reach out to previous employers and universities that might be on reduced hours
What things are checked with previous employer? Duration of service only?
It took more than 1 month for me. It is holiday time so may take little bit more.

It depends. They will verify each employer and sometimes getting that is really hard. They will tell you where questions are. The fewer employers, the easier.
