VMwhere?!

Hi blind fam,

I’m in a dilemma right now. I have an offer from Amazon, and an offer from another dream company. I want to join both. After hearing about Amazon’s boomerang policy, I was wondering if I can join Amazon for a few months, then join my dream company. If it is not good, then I boomerang back to Amazon?

Can somebody explain the detailed operations for the boomerang please. Also would I be marked as not eligible if I just join Amazon for a short time, for instance for 1.5 months :(((

Asking this because my dream company’s role is 100% match with my background skill and interest, but I also want to try out Amazon :(((

You could do this but you are really fucking over your team at amazon that you start on. Your amazon offer is valid up to 6 months. Better to accept other offer then circle back to amazon if not good

True. I come from cloud computing background, and I would join aws easily, but somehow no hm in aws contacted me, yet this ads org contacted me and offered a full stack job with zero correlation with my background and skill set. Hence the dilemma :(

Would you stay with the Amazon offer if I help you find a team in AWS? DM me if interested.

Amazon (or really, any company) isn't going to take you back if you piss people off.

Joining for just a couple months and leaving sounds like a recipe to do just that.

I think joining and dipping is worse than reneging

Ok understood. Also think from my perspective, I could be hired to fire for 3 months. Like so many other people out there

This is why being a manager sucks these days. Even if you are a good one there are ppl like this who expect the world to be at their beck and call

I was eligible to boomerang after an 8th month stint. Worked my arse off during those months and delivered some big wins. Just had a sh%t manager. Boomerang possible after shorter stint.

Also, you can talk to people in the team what are they actually working on. This is usually done before accepting the offer. You can still try connecting with team members if really want to make sure or other HMs too. Sooner the better.
