Machine Zone interview experience
Had a good phone interview followed by on-site. Position was ML focused senior data scientist role. This isn’t a 1st April joke. Had excellent conversation with their lead data scientist. He was extremely knowledgeable in machine learning and a nice person to talk with. However he wasn’t the hiring manager, it was some PM whom I met as well. Coding part was fine. The recruiter told me that feedback was positive and they wanted to move forward. Asked me for my expectations, told him a typical base salary expectation. He said he will get back to me soon. Never heard back from them again.
How long ago was this? Did you try to follow up?
This was a while back. June 2018. I didn’t have time to write then as was busy with work and interviews. I didn’t follow up with recruiter as I had enough of BS from recruiters by then. I did email the lead data scientist who interviewed me and expressed my concerns. He agreed with me and said he will pass my feedback.
Oh. The company went through a bunch of layoffs around that time, so that just might have been it.
how much did you ask for TC?
Base 190k in initial expectation , didn’t talk TC.
