Machine learning in the Triangle

I'm interested to learn of companies in the NC Triangle area (Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh) that have teams working with Machine Learning and Big Data. I know some in IBM, Cisco and LexisNexis - what are others?

You could go to "The Frontier" and chat with lots of local workers. It's a cool innovation center where people can work on their individual projects or collaborate.

Yea basically everyone in the Triangle is hiring machine learning engineers and data scientists but it means very different things at different places. Some skew towards R/Python, a lot are using Java/Scala and a few are big on C/++ (If memory serves me well I believe Align Technologies is one of the more C++ focused groups). A few other companies: SAS, Distil, Maxpoint, Pendo, Metlife, Citadel, Globant, Automated Insights, Fidelity, Cinga, Credit Suisse, Intel, Quintiles, RTI, Epic Games

I'm more interested in the Scala/Spark route than python / R or C

MaxPoint is hiring Scala/Spark. There's plenty of pyspark too - most just use what works best for them. We have a senior data science in machine learning role posted.

Considering that the ML I know is what I'll be teaching myself over the next 6 months, I'm sure the positions I can transfer into will be more limited, despite my other skills and achievements in software engineering. I also lack a masters in data science, which I'm sure is a popular requirement for ML devs right?

At LexisNexis, we are experimenting and exploring a whole slew of machine learning techniques.

I heard! How is your company with remote working? you're in Raleigh right?
