I’m thinking about making the move across the pacific. At the moment I am a senior front end engineer at the largest energy provider over here. What would be the best approach to finding companies to work for? References, recruiters or just blast out applications? On a side note, given I’m looking at working a top name company, what base / TC can I expect (need to make sure the move is worth our effort)?
140 base + stock, depends on company from 0 to 150 a year
Thanks for sharing, so getting 250-300 is not out of reach?
It's possible, depends on your skills
If you want good TC, you really need to line up competitive offers. They know that SWEs from other countries don't get compensated as well, and they will take advantage if you have no competing offers.
That’s good advice!
I got 350k not counting bonus or refresher, without competing offers. DM me if you wanna talk about moving here in general.
You will hate Seattle. Come to SF instead.
Isn’t that crazy expensive with a family?
If you want a real house you could live in South Bay or East Bay and commute, as a software engineer you should be able to get at least a townhouse in a suburb not too far from the city. Not much different from Sydney really.
350k TC
The only answer
That seems like a lot!
