Me again. Still can't get fucking hired. Just got turned down again, 12th interview. Starting to feel like it's time to an hero. Background: 15 years experience IT Sales, Security, Personnel Management, and Project Management, no real programming experience. Experience with Nessus, nmap, Splunk, Active Directory, AD OU, slurm, Apache, PHP, SQL, Exchange, Cisco and Juniper Hardware, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, and overall Windows, MacOS and Linux SysAdmin. Two Associates in Computer Design and Computer Science (community college, what a dumbass huh?) MBA in Executive Management from Ivy League School (who cares, right?) CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ (no one gives a shit apparently) Can't move due to wife taking care of handicapped sister for job, sister lives with 55 year old mother, mother owns house, no plans to move. We have a 3 year old I usually take care of. We have a nanny for when I get a job. Live in low pop area (100k - 125k people for a 100 square mile radius.) Jobs I've applied to and been passed over for: Police Dispatch Tech Lead - 79k Salaried City Gov - Interviewed - Passed over for internal hire. IT Management Lead - 86k Non-Salaried - Interviewed - Not hired due to being unable to relocate. IT Support Specialist II - 65k Salaried - Interviewed - Not hired - No reason given. There's more, I just can't even remember the positions at this point. Seriously, what the FUCK is going on. I have been applying and interviewing for over a YEAR now, and CAN'T GET FUCKING HIRED. What should I be applying to?????? Obviously my credentials look great on fucking paper, but then when they talk to me it's just "Nah, we don't want this guy." Like seriously, give me the fucking job, and if I can't do it then FUCKING FIRE ME. I've literally spent over 40 HOURS of my life going to interviews and not getting hired and at this point, I'm close to telling the next recruiter "Look, you're the 13th recruiter to call me for an interview, and I keep wasting time going to them just to be turned down for the positions. I need you to tell me right now if my credentials look like a fit for the position, then you need to just HIRE ME, and if I CAN'T DO THE JOB, then feel free to FIRE ME." I have 15 years of EXTENSIVE IT experience and I can't fucking get a W-2 started to save my fucking life. What the HELL is going on?
You’ve only spent 40 hours interviewing? 😂
Apply for 100 jobs and spend two full months of full time job searching, then get back with us.
Hi there. I understand the urge to rant. I really am sympathetic to your situation and fully remember your previous post. Ma I suggest though that u also make a post asking for help that's a bit more streamlined. I doubt many people will take the time to read through the whole text. I wish I could help in anyway. But I don't have many connections.
Sorry to learn that, it is very hard out side with so many much in flow. What is your age , that’s the another factor influenced, every one on tech want to hire young people
Just some basic input here from a hiring manager... you've identified a trend. Dig into why the trend is occurring. Do you need to brush up on your interviewing skills? Do you need to brush up on your interpersonal skills and change how you come across in the interviews? What's your background look like? Have you pigeonholed yourself into a single tech stack? Are you constantly growing in your career or do you come across as a person who has plateaued? Would suggest spending the money to go to a job transition company where you can partner with other folks from the field and do mock interviews to receive critical feedback. Or just look on meetup for groups that do interviewing practice. I would also say, as difficult as it may seem, to remain positive. I understand your frustrated, but don't let that resonate through any of your communications.
seems like all of these reasons for you not being hired are not your fault? or am I missing something. i would offer to referyou to booking here in amsterdam, but you are not relocating. i'm on good terms with most recruitment. why don't you try leaving some of your jobs off your cv and reducing your YOE? there is huge bias in america against older white males. honestly I have no idea how your media gets away saying what they do about that racial group, in most european countries it would be considered illegal and hate speech.
Yeah the description of your skills looks overwhelming. Are you customizing your resume for some of the positions you are applying to? Maybe companies are confused and feel like you are overqualified. Read the job description and insert the skills into your resume that they ask for that you have and leave all the stuff off that's unrelated. Maybe concisely summarise your experience beyond 5 or 10 years. If there's a gap in your recent employment IDK what a recruiter would suggest you say....
From your attitude in this post, I wouldn't hire you either. Probably a good call on the behalf of the companies you listed
From your attitude, it appears you never had hardship, I wouldn't hire you either.
Dayum, a man can't even rant now? And of course rants are not always cohesive. I have said things in a rant which I wouldn't say otherwise(and definitely not in interviews) but its called rant for that reason. Its not always reflection of one's attitude.

Been there. I think you have to solve the location problem. If you can’t move, try get a job in a big city in a reasonable distance and fly home in the weekend. I know people go to work in the Bay Area and fly home every Friday evening.
