If you have another offer, but think your firm will want to keep you with a counter, what is the best course of action?

Hand in notice, but don't sign the other offer? Seems tricky. #negotiateoffer

  • 9/10 times - don't entertain a counter offer .. you've already burnt bridges on which you don't want to walk back

  • Yeah, you usually give notice once you have the formal offer but haven't accepted. If it's a big name brand it's easy to go back and say well the counter is higher - but with smaller firms they may not like renegotiating.
