Hey folks. Ive got a dilemma here and am out looking for possible answers
I work as a Manufacturing Engineer at a Tier 1 Automotive Supplier. I have a Master's in Automotive Engineering with specialization in Manufacturing. I have been working here for 2 years now and in the last 5 months - have been assisting our planner.
Now, an opening has come up where I can take over planning - meaning I have complete visibility of everything that is happening in the plant and also that I get to control changes and schedules to a great extent working closely with Operations & Logistics.
Its a very tempting prospect, obviously with huge responsibilities.
My dilemma here is if this would be a good transition for me from a Manufacturing Engineer to a Planner. I checked a few websites and the requirements and compensation for a production planner is not on par with an Engineer.
So I don't know if its a good path to take
Any suggestions/opinions is appreciated!#operations #ops #planning #mangement
