Mechnican engineer+ masters degree in management( specialisation - Product management) 6 years of sales and application experience. Developed and commercialized several industrial products ( Non tech) What should I do to take up a PM role in the tech industry, like FB,Google,Apple, Microsoft... Please help. Thank you in advance.
Look to join a tech company in their manufacturing industry sales team. Some even hire industry experts in their product orgs if specifically targeting certain verticals.
Thanks for your suggestion, will look into it.
You are out of luck .. no one will touch you with 10 feet pole. Just focus on what you are doing the best or start your own
Well Thank you for your response.
Might be easier to switch to a smaller company for a couple of years before trying for the big league. Alternately, try to leverage your IOT expertise to get into Azure or AWS IoT divisions as a PM.
This is a great advise, thanks for your response.
That transition will be very tough without Technical knowledge or a top 10 MBA. Look at industrial companies focused on IoT to get into tech and try after a few years.
Thank you, how about courses like Product school or General assembly? Will this help in anyway?
Not sure they'll be helpful without some tech experience. I don't know about them so might want to talk to someone who has done them.
