Thinking of maybe getting a masters in either CS or Business to help with career and TC growth. Two questions for the Blind crowd:

(1) is it worth it?
(2) Is there a program that is either quick or much easier to manage while working a job?

Blind tax:
YOE: 3+
TC: incl. equity, ~380k as an IC SWE

There are some companies that highly value masters (VMW is one) but they don't pay especially more for it. I wouldn't leave industry to do it and trying to do both at the same time seems exhausting. If your long term goal is to be a PE/Fellow then maybe it makes sense. Otherwise after 10 yoe nobody will care.

If your undergrad was in CS I'd go-to business school and vice versa. Especially if you're going for a general program. I think it looks much better to Branch out.

However it mostly depends on your goals. If you want to specialize in a unique CS topic (ML, data vision, etc) obviously a master's will help.

    1. Not worth it if you are a US citizen or already working here
    2. Yes, Georgia Tech OMSCS. Research on it. You can at best take 1 class per sem and it’s worth it

Also, it will give you tons of knowledge but probably not help your TC
