I have my bachelors in CS and I’ve been working at Oracle, Redwood city since 3 yrs. I want to give a shot at research, hence I’m considering a Masters. Is it too late to start Masters at 24? People come out of Masters by then and already have get some work ex. Would my workex reset to 0 after Masters? Tc: 130k Yoe: 3
Yes, too late. Just go ahead and retire 🙄
I think it's a great time to get a master's, hopefully in a hot topic area. I like stories where people say I want a career change and go study and get a degrees to try to force the action. Just remember to interact with others and take advantage of the alumni network.
Best time is now.
Too old
I would suggest a better option here. How about 1 year of leetcode all problems and 1 year of competing on topcoder? It will cost you 500$ at Max and the benefits will be huge.
24 is late? LMAO.
Consider PhD too. +3 years means nothing after you hit ~30.
What? Why? Hitting job market at 30 kinda seems like a late bloomer 😅
Not if you have a PhD. New grad advantage is way better than a stable job. No one cares for more than 10 years of experience. It all appears rosy when you have less than 10-12 yoe. You need to constantly reinvent yourself.
I'm 40 and in the process of getting my MSCS.
Too late? It looks better to have a master's after some work experience. Maybe Oracle can help pay for some of the costs if relatable to your work?
Is it? I heard that experience before grad school doesn’t count and wondering if the three year experience is like a waste. I’m just saying too late because I’d be 26 by the time Masters is over and psychologically it feels too late 😅
30 is late. 26 isn't
